Being an artist is a funny thing. I love exploration, using new materials and trying out new things. But sometimes you go back to a previous style and you get that rush of discovery all over again. My latest painting did just that.
About 5 years ago I was creating works like this. I would find images of musicians that I liked. Then I'd xerox them and splice the images together while incorporating other paints and materials.
This painting was a commission. I friend of mine had always liked that style and wanted one custom made for her boyfriend. So I worked with her, established the general layout, and she let me run with it. If anyone would like a painting in this style, I am more than happy work it!
